After an eventful month of birthdays, reunions and a grand wedding, RJ and I agreed to postpone our anniversary date to give room for a financial recovery. Haha, celebrating can be quite expensive!
Despite the two week delay, our anniversary date was nothing short of romantic and undeniably dreamy. Props to RJ, he even exceeded last anniversary’s date in Ninyo Fusion Cuisine!
L’Opera’s classic Italian interiors exudes romance and lovely sophistication, arresting the mind and delivering its customers to a serene state of mind. The soft glowing lights from the low lying chandeliers, the deep floral curtains and the warm brick wals all contribute to the air of enamoring elegance inside the restaurant.

Complimentary Bread
Succumbing to my overpowering craving for truffles, I order two truffle main dishes. RJ joins in and orders another dish that brings music to my ears, salmon. Oh God, salmon & truffles in one sitting! I can’t imagine how this date can get any better.
Normally I would sit impatiently as I await my orders but the soothing music playing in the background and their complimentary basket of thin pizza crust-like bread mixed with two pieces of crusty bread, cradles me to quiet satisfaction. There are three spreads to choose from: liver pate, luscious butter and a herby salsa topping. They all go well with the breads but I prefer my mine with the distinct taste of creamy pate.

Filetto di Salmone allo Spumante (Php790)
Our orders soon arrive, starting with their light Filetto di Salmone allo Spumante, sauteed in sparkling wine and lemon sauce. RJ and I race each other for forkful slices, both unwilling to get a smaller share of their superbly cooked Norwegian salmon steak. This dish affirms my undying love for salmon!

Risotto alla Crema di Tartufo (Php420)
I’m a lover of meals prepared with much attention and love so it’s a must to order their Risotto alla Crema di Tartufo, a dish “made from scratch, the healthy and old way using Italian Arborio Rice”. Drenched heavily in creamy truffle sauce, RJ and I take bite-sized portions of risotto after each divine piece salmon and our knees turn jelly with their melodious combination.

Taglierini al profumo di tartufo in camicia di prosciutto (Php490)
The truffle sauce goes great with their risotto but it’s absolutely brilliant with their thin egg noodles and delicate slivers of salty prosciutto. Our other dishes pamper our hungry hearts but their Taglierini al Profumo di Tartufo in Camicia di Prosciutto bags the best dish of the night. No wonder it’s their bestseller in the house!
I’m tempted to order truffles again for dessert but RJ begged off after two truffle dishes. After all, too much of a good thing can turn bad. But as I step out of their brick-walled restaurant, I know my truffles obsession is far from over.
